Drivers - Linx 1010 vs 1010B

by Squirrel2015 » February 14th, 2018, 1:23 pm

Hi there

Probably a silly question but I'd just like confirmation, please.

Are the drivers for the 1010B any different, or same as, drivers for 1010?

I've got my friend's Linx 1010 here to fix because, as expected, Windows 10 can't update because no space - surprise, surprise! ;) So, I'll do a clean install of Windows, as I did with my 1010B, including the drivers. There is no keyboard with my friend's 1010, of course, so don't want to mess up ;)

Also, I've copied all her drivers, via Powershell, but can't find touchscreen.gt on her Linx anywhere, even having searched using the searchbox in File explorer. Presumably, the touchscreen.gt file that I have in my 1010B drivers will be the same?

Many thanks

@Squirrel2015

Hello there,
I've not being at this site in a while, but when I was browsing I came across your post.
First let me answer your question, yes there is. It may be the touch drivers or the rotation
drivers or reg entry, or the . . . All Linx Tablets have different manufactured parts, just like
any laptop really.

Now I'm not going to give you a one fix all solution, but I will save you some time in what
I used to repair my Linx 1010B after the famous Windoze 10 update.

1st:
Watch this video; Part 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdM6EC71mdQ
and Part 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFwWd5zEX7U

This chap even provides links to the drivers
http://www.mediafire.com/file/u99w70kw4wb7d39/Linx+1010+and+1010B+drivers+%28all+windows+systems%29.zip

And finally when you have everything up and running once again to your liking, I find that until Microsoft recognizes
us Linx users and stop worrying about our Surface cousins, the best cure is to prevent them from changing our drivers.
Follow these instructions here => https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/disable-automatic-driver-downloads-on-windows-10
or here => http://www.itprotoday.com/windows-10/stop-automatic-driver-updates-windows-10

Windows will do all its normal updates, security, fall creators edition etc etc but won't interfere with our precious drivers.
Hope this helps you, and any readers of this post, to get some peace with this ongoing problem.

Best Regards
Zyrac

Hi Zyrac

It's great that you've replied to my post ;) It seems to have slipped through the net, somehow.

I'll check out your links (although, for some reason, they haven't 'hyperlinked' - I'll just copy and paste them :) ) and I'll post back. Thanks very much for posting :)

Do you have any solution to the screen orientation auto-rotate being greyed out, both in the Action Centre and in Settings>Display?

So many people, myself included, have Auto-rotate greyed out. The orientation can be changed between Portrait and Landscape by going to Settings > Display and change it manually but, at some point, probably since the Fall Creation update, this functionality has got lost.

I'm constantly keeping an eye out for a FIX for this ;)
